Two years ago, a uniquely designed bathing suit appeared in an advertisement in front of me and I couldn’t peel my eyes away. I had to click and look more closely and at the time I wasn’t searching for a new swimsuit so you know that means it was something really interesting! It was the Summersalt Sidestroke in Lava & Hibiscus & White Sand. I was immediately taken with its one-shoulder style and color combination.

Meet the Sidestroke

Upon arrival, the fit and look are true to what I saw on their website. It is very flattering for all body types and while it doesn’t have a traditional bathing suit lining, it is supportive and has compression in the fabric causing it to stay in place (which we all want in a swimsuit, let’s be honest!) from taking a splash in the water, to moving around with kids, and of course it withstood the test of “jump up in the air at the beach.”

I can also say that over the last two years, the color has held up beautifully. No fading or bleeding into the other sections. And to finish off this suit, the design stays firmly in place with a fun strap across the back. This suit comes in a total of nine colors, three are single shades of a classic color and the other six are color combinations in varying shades. They are all fantastic and you can’t go wrong!

A Classic Style Cover-Up

I enjoyed the Sidestroke so much that when Summersalt came out with a new fused suit and cover-ups this spring, I ordered right away.  Let’s just say that I have been on the hunt for a new official cover-up for a few years.  I opted for The All Buttoned Up Cover-Up design in White Sand.  Based on the colors I had in bathing suits, I felt like it would easily go with everything and with a white button down shirt design, it’s a classic and will never go out of style.  The cover-up is also offered in black as well as three different stripe colors and they are all really cute!

Front buttons can be fastened or left open depending on your mood and the sleeves are full length with traditional button closures but also can be rolled up and securely held in place with a fabric loop above the elbow.  The fabric is semi-sheer which makes it very breathable on those hot summer days but it has full coverage hitting around the upper-mid thigh with a flattering side slit. When I pulled this cover-up out, my mom said she had a flashback to when my Grammy used to wear my Pappy’s old button down shirts to the beach as a cover up in the 60’s.  Classic style never goes out of style! 😁 It warmed my heart and made me feel a little closer to her since we all know I LOVED to play in her closet when I was little.

Trying New Things – The Fused Oasis

On to the new Fused Oasis suit that I purchased in Pacific.  It is available in three colors but I figured I would go with blue to remind me of the ocean and for something different.

This suit has a more traditional lining and support built into the construction. It is equally as supportive, has adjustable straps which are great for multiple body types so it fits and flatters everyone’s proportions, and has a fun waist defining belt in a contrasting color tone.  The belt is a crucial piece of the design for a figure flattering and is also great on all body types.

Summersalt has expanded beyond what I also explored this year with a variety of one and two piece suits, cover-ups, kids suits, and activewear. Their website has a ton of great information including a very helpful style and size finder quiz (which I took and the recommended fits were perfect!), details on tips for washing your suit, and they are environmentally conscious by using recycled products in their fabrics and shipping materials. Done, done, and done!

Have you tried Summersalt? What are your favorite suits?
