Raise your hand if you Love stripes!
It is no secret to those that know me, I love a nautical stripe. In fact, my closet and drawers are full of them. I like to think it is part of my signature look and “uniform”. ? A surefire way for a brand to get me to buy clothing is a nautical stripe, puff sleeve, elbow pads and/or pockets in a skirt or dress….sold, every time! ?
Perhaps I have too many stripes in my closet. It does get me thinking about Marie Kondo’s KonMari method when I see them all laid out this way. There is a good chance I will be holding these pieces to see if they bring me joy and narrowing the collection down a bit. It really brings it into perspective when you place them all in one spot. I’ll keep you posted on my decision!
Closet Staple
It is something about the classic lines in stripes and easily paired colors, that help to quickly pull together any look when I’m not sure what to wear. My mother-in-law even so generously gifted me with a soft nautical stripe sweater from Banana Republic with the cute stitched words “hello weekend” on the front.
Just One More??
I was walking by Vineyard Vines at the mall recently as I finished up some errands. I found myself spotting a nautical top that combined navy blue stripes on the body and light blue on the arms. I walked by twice before I finally went in the store to look more closely. I did not purchase it yet, I am using strong willpower here. Different enough to purchase? Probably not after I looked at all of my striped tops I’ve accumulated over the years in one spot….
Let’s face it, I probably definitely don’t NEED any more striped clothing but I love a new combination that gets my creative juices flowing on options for styling. Dress it up, dress it down – easy, peasy!
It’s a Keeper
One of my favorite sweaters from G. Label was a splurge but it combines two of my favorite things – a nautical stripe and a puff sleeve, it’s classic and I’ll wear it forever so for me it is worth the investment. It’s not available on the Goop site any longer, but always keep an eye out for it online in consignment on a site like TheRealReal or eBay.
Do you have any repeat styles in your closet that you can’t get enough of (like my stripes obsession!)?
