It’s been a minute since I posted a Try it on Tuesday session. For this edition, I featured my latest order from Rent the Runway. A standard Rent the Runway Unlimited order comes with four pieces which can include items for you, your kids, and even your home (hello pillow covers from West Elm!).

I recently chatted with someone out in town while we stood in line and realized that many people associate Rent the Runway  only with dresses or gowns for special events. That is absolutely still true, but a few years ago they added the monthly membership feature to rent every day clothing, work wear, coats, bags, you name it! Tons of designers to choose from and the list of pieces is always growing.

I love that they added coats, dresses, and clothing for kids because a rental is great for those special events and holidays. Need to spruce up your living space and a fresh change for the season, add a West Elm pillow cover rental (I am going to give this a try soon and will report back). Remember that you can keep the items for rent as long as you like, it’s like Netflix, no pressure to return an item until you are ready to part ways with it.

One of my favorite features is the option to buy the piece at a discount if you fall in love with it and decide you don’t want to ever part ways. Want to give Rent the Runway Unlimited a try? As an ambassador, I get to share special discounts and savings with you. The current offer at the time I am writing this post is $200 off your first two months of membership, that’s $100 per month! Ralph Lauren Kids – Red Plaid Bow Dress

I scooped up this adorable Ralph Lauren dress for two Father-Daughter dances that my older daughter will attend in February. I recently learned about the kids clothing option from Tara of The Fashion House Mom. I gave my daughter a choice of a few in her size that were available at the time of ordering and she picked this one. Nice choice, she has a strong sense of her own style already and this time we actually agreed! It is true to size and fit her perfectly. If there was an issue with fit, we could send it back and opt for a different dress of size or design with no added cost.

She is really excited to wear it (stay tuned for her official pictures) and feels really grown up and special. I think she likes the full skirt for twirling and the precious bow. This dress would also be perfect for the holidays. I have a tough time justifying the purchase of a dress for one occasion because kids grow so quickly. Renting a kids dress for events is a great option!

See by Chloe City Wool Vest

In addition to wearing pieces by designers that are typically out of my standard budget to purchase, I love to try trends through my Rent the Runway orders. I have had my eye on the vest trend for a bit and saw this one from See by Chloe was available.  Quick tip: I heart items in advance when I have a few minutes here and there so that I can refer to it later, makes it easy and less overwhelming!

This vest is nicely constructed and great to dress up for the office or casually on a weekend. It adds an extra layer of warmth without the bulk. I opted for a size down from my normal since they don’t offer petites and I didn’t want it to be too long or too much material. It fits well and since I plan to wear it open in the front, the smaller size works perfectly. If I did want to close the front buttons, I would need to go up a size.

There are pockets and a back slit which makes the fabric sit nicely while you are seated. I have it styled in these pictures with all black underneath. It would look great with jeans as well. I love the monochromatic look, so I will also try it with all grey layers for a chic look or even all white for a soft winter white effect.

Deby Debo Clarice Knit Pleated Skirt

Pleated skirts are having a moment if you have not noticed. The toughest part for me is to find a midi length skirt for petite size. This Clarice Knit Pleated Skirt from Deby Debo has a great length. The elastic waist area is very comfortable and the sparkle adds a bit of surprise and playfulness to any work outfit. I have it styled for the office in these pictures and look forward to including some casual styling with white platform sneakers for the weekend.

I chose my normal size for this piece and the fit is very comfortable. The weight of the knit is really nice too. Not too heavy and not too light where it would blow around easily in the wind. Definitely a keeper and I look forward to styling this one multiple ways!

7 for All Mankind Josefina Boyfriend Jeans

Who knew you could rent jeans? Raise your hands…no? Me neither until now, you are not alone! It’s so tough to know how jeans are going to feel beyond a try on in the dressing room. Now you can try them in your daily life, try new designers, try new cuts. These 7 for All Mankind boyfriend jeans are so comfortable with their relaxed fit. The denim is very soft and the roll up length at the bottom is perfect for me and my 5’2” frame.

There is a hidden button fly so if you prefer a zipper instead, that is an important detail to note. I was a little discouraged when I realized how they closed but because the denim is so soft the buttons are easy to manage. I ordered my standard size and found the fit to be just right.

I have the jeans styled for a casual Friday at the office with a transition to date night in the black blazer and heels or the navy and stripes look provides a polished weekend or kids school activity option. Polished yet comfortable is the name of the game!
