Earlier this month, I shared one of my favorite new Amazon purchased products for makeup removal. This week, I am excited to tell you about the Dash Egg Cooker. It couldn’t be easier to use, minimal clean up, easy storage, and it makes the most perfect hard boiled eggs (up to six at a time).

Why do I need this in my life?

Now, I know what you’re thinking. One of my friends sent me a note a few months ago asking the same thing, “Ummm, pot of boiling water?” Yes, she is so right and great point! I could use a pot of boiling water and I have over the years. But for me, I can’t seem to get the method down for whatever reason. My yolks are always too dry or start to turn that greenish color around the outer edges. And there are so many methods to the “perfect” egg, start from cold water, boil first and then add, boil the eggs, turn the stove off when you add the eggs. Too many options for me! Plus, my husband can’t tolerate the smell of hard boiled eggs so my hope was that this little gadget dampened the smell for him.

I originally learned about the Dash Egg Cooker from Cassie over on Hi Sugarplum, she always has great finds and advice. I was hesitant and determined to use the boiling water method, but then the egg cooker went on sale this fall and as Cassie reminded me, it was one of her favorite things. And I trust this woman, so I ordered one!

The Details

There are several colors and I opted for the soothing mint green. The egg cooker is small enough to easily pack away when it is not in use. But in case you like to keep your appliance on the counter, there are many color choices to match your kitchen. There is also a larger Deluxe version with a second tier of egg cooking if that suits you better.

The egg cooker will make up to six hard, medium, or soft boiled eggs (you just add the prescribed amount of water to the bottom for steaming). There is a separate tray for two poached eggs or a single tray for an omelette. I am as excited about the poached egg feature as I am about the eggs perfectly cooked in their shells. It just makes the process so much easier.

The first step is to measure out the necessary water which creates the steam for cooking as it sits on a metal plate. Next, add the egg rack that rests over the water and hot plate. Poke a hole in the bottom of each egg you want to cook and place the egg with the hole side up. Cover and press the start button.

Depending on how you like your eggs cooked, it takes about 10-15 minutes. When the eggs are done (which means the water is all cooked off the hot plate), the egg cooker plays a cute and happy song. Unplug, carefully lift the lid to avoid contact with the steam. I like to pop my eggs in an ice water bath to stop the cooking for a few minutes before peeling, eating, or storing in the refrigerator for later. Be careful and use a potholder to pick up the eggs when transferring them to the ice bath. The eggs are very HOT!

Voila – Perfectly Cooked Eggs

I was so excited that the egg yolks were perfectly cooked and just a little bit creamy. I can make a whole batch of six eggs at once and have them ready for the week, hooray! The more preparation I do to make my week easier, the better!

Sometimes it’s the little things that matter and this egg cooker is fantastic! The only downside is that my husband said he can still smell the hard boiled eggs. Oh well, it was a good effort and I will just make eggs when he is not here.

This is an inexpensive item to make a healthy breakfast or snack and makes my morning and food prep easier. If it makes my routine a little easier, I bet it will help you too. Friends share, that’s what we do 😊
