Happy Tuesday Friends! Welcome back for another edition of Try it on Tuesday! This week, I have five pieces available from Rent the Runway to share as we prepare to move from summer to cooler temperatures.

Without further delay, let’s get right into it!

Capelet Sweater

I’m so in love with this sweater and capelets in general. I feel like a superhero and a royal all mixed into one. Have you ever slid your sweater or jacket just over your shoulders to keep you warm without the extra material or warmth on your arms? If so, definitely try a capelet.

There is a very slim chance that this piece is going back to RTR and I will be purchasing it at a discount. Side note – did you know you get a discount to purchase the items you rent? It’s easy to find when you log in, both the original and discounted prices are listed under each piece.

Back to capelets! I wanted to try this trend in either a blazer, sweater, or dress and purposefully sought this look out in my next shipment. What better way to try a new trend, than to rent it with no risk. This Rhye Sweater from DREYDEN is available in ivory or black and it is a cotton, silk, and cashmere blend. It’s a thicker sweater with a heavier knit, but the open arms allow nice airflow so it doesn’t get too toasty.

The reviews on this sweater noted that it runs a bit small so I ordered one size up from my usual, which was a spot on decision. If I had ordered my usual size, it would have been too small. I will also say that I have a short torso and the sweater fits me, but I think it runs a bit short in the torso area. For sizing and fit, if you have an average to long torso this sweater may prove to be challenging.  Another option is to pair it with high waisted jeans, pants, or a pencil skirt to allow for more coverage of the torso and hip area.

I have it paired in the picture with both jeans and black pants to show that it easily goes from work to weekend (or dinner out). Hot outside but chilly in the office? Try a capelet 😊This is an instant simple and smart casual look with jeans. I hope this trend is around for a while because I love it!

Wide Leg Culotte

I have been on the hunt for a pair of black wide leg culottes all summer. Since the search continued, I naturally hunted and added a pair to my recent shipment. These Michael Stars pants are very comfortable and I ordered my normal size, but I was a little surprised to find how casual the material is. It’s mostly cotton and feels more like a knit that you would lounge around in, which makes them incredibly comfortable.

I have them paired here with Keds (from the Keds review post), a white t-shirt, and a jean jacket for a comfortable weekend look.

Not a bad thing by any means and I can picture wearing these on travel days, planes, weekends, but they feel a bit casual to dress up for the office. I’ll play around with some styling and see how it goes for a dressed up look and will share my findings! For now, these are casual pants and I will say that they also might get purchased!

Yellow Printed Blouse

This Derek Lam 10 Crosby blouse called my name in the search area immediately. The color is so vibrant and feels like sunshine when you slip it on. It is a great print to transition from summer to fall and it has a very flowy feel. The blouse can definitely be worn with jeans or workwear. I have it pictured with jeans and booties as well as black pants for the office, but I could also see it with white jeans, corduroys, or a pencil skirt. So many options! I think the yellow is an excellent choice for pairing with lots of colors including the approaching fall season and just as lovely with lighter summer colors.

Red Floral Blouse

Ulla Johnson blouses are one of my weaknesses for a splurge. I saw Gen from Pencil & Paper wearing this Terese blouse and could not tear my eyes away. I loved the red and mix of colors to go with jeans or to dress it up. That’s the fantastic thing about these blouses, they can be worn for so many occasions. Especially when spending more on a piece of clothing, versatility is key! But again, renting is a fantastic option to try these pieces and then even better you can buy them for a discount if your heart desires.

The Terese blouse has a bit of a puff sleeve to it (one of my favorite features) and does have long sleeves. Note that I have the sleeves pushed up for this pictures but the sleeves do run to the wrist. There is also beautiful navy stitching on the seams which gives it a little something extra. Details are huge to me and this blouse boasts several.

I have the blouse paired with Everlane Kick Crop jeans (that need to be cut to hit me above the ankle…petite sized problems!) and a pair of J. Crew gold mules from a few seasons ago but I linked something similar from Sam Edelman.

Moto Jacket

I ordered this Veda Black Jayne Classic Moto jacket in my shipment completely on a whim and did not expect to like it. I thought I could not pull off a moto jacket and that it would not feel like me, but I wanted to try it. Well, I am finding that I do like it and have been wearing it for other photo shoots coming up on the blog. I thought it might be too edgy for me, but as I’ve said that is the best part about this service. You are at no risk! Doesn’t fit or feel like you? Send it back and get something new!

The temperatures are still in the 90 degree range in Charlotte so it will be a while before I can regularly wear this beauty.

Since I am enjoying the moto jacket trend, I might rent and try one or two other styles and colors to see what I like best. I have the moto jacket styled with jeans in these pictures but have been trying it out with dresses to balance out a feminine look.

Have you tried Rent the Runway? Which of these trends do you wear or want to try?
