Hooray for another edition of Try it on Tuesday, welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend as we close out the unofficial end of summer (it is still in the 90’s where I live, so I am not giving up my summer wardrobe just yet). Today’s post is focused mainly on J.Crew Factory with a sprinkle of other items layered in for the ride.

Camel Sweater

First up, the J.Crew Factory Vanessa Sweater in Heather Camel. It’s available in four colors, it has pockets, and it is a heavier cotton material. I imagine wearing this both as a sweater and as a light jacket through fall and winter (and spring to be honest). The thicker cotton helps the sweater hold its shape a bit more like a jacket while also maintaining a soft, sweater feel.

I love the slight collar fold down at the neckline to open up the fit and helps the sweater work on all body types. It’s great for layering a tank or t-shirt underneath in the fall. Later on when the weather turns cold, you can easily add a button down shirt or lightweight turtleneck underneath for a cozier feel. This sweater is great for all occasions on the weekend, work, or anywhere in between.

Fit tip: I went one size down in this sweater.

I have it paired here with skinny jeans as well as vegan leather leggings and a new pair of Vince Camuto booties (also available in black and a taupe/snakeskin print). In addition to the vegan leather leggings from J.Crew Factory, I have a similar pair of Spanx faux leather leggings that are more form fitting and very supportive, obviously a Spanx specialty but note that they are not as dark in color as the J.Crew option. While I do not own a pair of Commando faux leather leggings, I have heard these are fantastic as well (however, I do have a pair of their velvet black leggings and love them). Not only would the sweater be great with a standard pair of skinny jeans but also works well with white jeans or black jeans.  Pair it with a pencil skirt or a pair of fitted pants for the office. This is a closet staple item.

Jogger Pants

Next is the J.Crew Factory Marled Jogger sweatpants. But first, can you spot my cat?! He is not camera shy and loves to make sneaky appearances so always keep your eyes open for Mr. Belvedere.

I have a strong suspicion these will be my comfy, change into when I get home in the evening pants. I should probably go ahead and order one or two of the other colors so that I am not constantly washing this pair! They are so soft and have a little bit of spandex in the fabric blend so they feel fitted through the thigh without the tightness of a legging. I have it shown here with one of my new Amazon Essentials t-shirts that are equally as soft. Pop on a sweatshirt or sweater and you are ready for a family movie night or to curl up with a glass of wine and a book, cozy as can be (snuggles from my cat Mr. Belvedere not included).

Pullover Sweatshirt

Incredibly soft on the outside and the lining, this Button-Collar Pullover is so cozy and comfortable I almost (and I stress almost) wish it was cold outside so I could wear it sooner. It’s available in four different colors, all wonderful neutrals that will pair well with jeans of any color or even your favorite shorts, corduroys, or chinos depending on the season. I love the functioning button detail on the collar.

Fit tip: I went one size down in this sweatshirt

Sweater Blazer

If you haven’t heard about this on point trend for fall, let me be the first to tell you. Sweater blazers are everywhere and who can say no to the structure of a blazer with a more comfortable feel and fit! I love the fitted look a blazer provides like this School Boy Blazer (I own several colors, they are that good!), but I am also excited about sporting a sweater blazer so that I can move more freely (especially with small children).

This style of blazer has a more relaxed fit and it is perfect for layering. This one from J.Crew Factory (available in five colors) is comfortable and cozy. Similar to the Vanessa sweater in the first section, the fabric is thicker material so it holds some structure but also very easy to move around in throughout the day. I will need to get the sleeves shortened but that is easy to do at your local tailor. This is another piece that will follow you from weekend to work easily with a fitted pant.

Crewneck Sweater

A closet staple that never goes out of style and available in 10 colors. I wanted a green crewneck sweater this season and J.Crew Factory delivered in addition to a great price tag! This sweater works on its own (add a statement necklace or earrings) or layered with a button down underneath when the weather is cooler. Play with patterns and try a plaid, animal print, or floral blouse underneath. This is another piece that is great for the office or weekend. Versatile pieces are my favorite, shop once and wear it so many ways! In this picture I have the green sweater paired with a fun pair or tortoiseshell earrings from Tuckernuck. I am loving green with tortoiseshell or animal print right now!

Cardigan Sweater

This beauty, which is last but not least, in this week’s edition is a collaboration between J. Crew and The Reeds in a lovely and soft cardigan. It is available in four colors and it is so soft (have I mentioned that?!). I love the beautiful design around the collar area, which gives it a feminine touch over a standard cardigan. I have it paired here with a camisole, skinny jeans, and leopard d’orsay heels. I think this would look lovely with tweed shoes as well. The softness of the sweater and the texture of the tweed is a nice balance. Also a great sweater for work and weekend like the others above.

That’s a wrap for this week’s edition of Try it on Tuesday friends. What trend will you be trying? Which piece was your favorite?
